The Advisory Group (AG) of the NIBA met Wednesday, November 29 at the Union League Club in Chicago. This group of industry experts meets once each year to evaluate NIBA’s programs and projects, and suggest ideas for making the Association more effective in our efforts to educate our members and represent their views on all issues which have an effect on our business lives.

This year, four topics generated the most discussion - (i) the introduction of bitcoin futures as part of an IB/CTA’s product offerings; (ii) updates to the NFA’s Enhanced Supervision Rule; (iii) targeted marketing and NIBA’s complimentary membership year; and (iv) some very specific and unique concerns/needs of IIB’s.
In the past years, AG committee suggestions have turned into valuable projects for NIBA members. For example, forming strategic partnerships with other industry groups and developing an intern program our membership can easily participate in, are both ideas put forth by the AG. During the coming year, the NIBA Board of Directors will work toward implementing several or all of the AG’s suggestions with an eye toward benefit for the entire membership, and our financial constricts.
Rodney Dow is the NIBA board member chairman of the AG. Other board members on this committee include Mike Burke, Steve Petillo and Melinda Schramm. John Nelson is the Association Member serving on this committee. To follow-up or offer suggestions, contact Rodney, rodney@thedowcorp.com.
