“I don’t mind going back to daylight saving time. With inflation, the hour will be the only thing I’ve saved all year.”
Victor Borge, 1909-2000
Victor Borge was an Danish and American comedian, conductor and pianist, popular on radio and television in Europe and the United States. He was often referred to as “The Clown Prince of Denmark.”
I am writing this during the snowstorm following the Sunday we “sprung forward” to change our clocks to daylight saving time, and, like Victor Borge, I want to make the most of my “saved hour,” and let NIBA members know how to use theirs too.
First I’m going to the Members Resources portal on theniba.com in my “saved hour.” I’m going to read “How to Use Twitter” submitted by Shane Stiles, Gate 39 Media Then I’m moving on to the submission from Great Lakes Credit Union and finally, the article entitled “Decoding the Myth of Managed Futures” written by Mark Shore. Of course, I’m currently reviewing “The Complete IB Handbook” also posted in the Members Resource portal, since I’m the author! Soon I will be posting a new update of the Handbook, now in its 7th edition and still sponsored by CME Group.
Next I’m going to review “Ask the NFA” posted in NIBA’s February issue.
I’m also going to add up three or four hours of my “saved hours” to attend the NIBA Spring Symposium on April 26 at the New York Athletic Club, NYC. The program includes three business sessions and a networking reception. This year’s symposium is sponsored by CME Group, OptionsCity and Straits Financial. This year’s program committee is chaired by Howard Rennell; the committee includes Mike Burke, Mike Coglianese, Ryan Griffeth, Paul Fry, Steve Petillo, Rich Strait and Melinda Schramm. Registration is open now -- contact Howard at hrennell@e-windham.com or any committee member for details.
Between our very busy professional lives and equally jam-packed personal lives, having a “saved hour” is a pretty special thing. NIBA offers some great ways to use it - please join us.
Best, Melinda
